Teukgong Moosool is the modern official system of self-defense of the South Korean  for special units, such as: President Secret Service, law enforcement, and Special Forces.  Teukgong Moosool was developed in around 1978.  Teukgong Moosool name was given by South Korean president, Park Jung Il.

TEUK: Special

GONG: Attack or Power

MOO: Martial

SOOL: Art or Techniques

There is a great freedom in the execution of the Teukgong Moosool techniques.  It was designed to give the individual the advantage of facing a variety of combat situations, with or without the use of weapons.

It is a serious system for the individuals with an open mind, who honestly wish to develop in a highest level of training in self-defense.  Teukgong Moosool is a real and effective discipline of self-defense where body, mind and spirit in an attitude of passive alert are united.

Our chief instructor is the Commissioner of International Teukgong Moosool - Im, Young Ju.  Master Sun Oh is the founder & director of MAPS Association and instructor of Teukgong Moosool for law enforcement.

All people have "KI" or energy rooted in the breath. So, deep breathing exercises are a vital part of TGMS. They make us stronger in body and spirit, helping to protect us not only from attackers but also from poisonous thinking. In this way, TGMS serves universal harmony for law enforcement officers.

TGMS is your "KI", all other peoples "KI", the profound secrets of nature and the solid earth all in harmony. When you are able to achieve such a state, you can defend yourself against attack and even use your attacker's power against him.

TGMS is especially important for women, children and the elderly can also train because TGMS is a natural martial art.

TGMS students have to learn forms, step drills, and meditation.  TGMS is a wonderful art and can be practiced by everyone.  TGMS can also be something personal for every single individual.

Self-improvement and enlightenment. If we combine all these elements and we can understand it’s meaning, a very graphic picture of Korean TGMS is laid out for us. People learning to control natural energies in accordance with nature.
